How can I check that my child’s shoes fit properly?
As a rule there should be a thumb nail in width between the longest toe and the end of the shoe when your child is standing. Any less and your child’s toes will press against the end of the shoe when they run and play. If your child is complaining of the shoes being uncomfortable then they are probably no longer fitting correctly.
NB. School shoes are the most important purchase you will regularly make for your child’s feet. Many school shoes are made to look good but often lack the support required whilst your child is running around at school. Your Podiatrist can recommend appropriate school shoes for your child, taking into account their individual walking and running biomechanics, as well as any specific uniform requirements that may be in place.
