Arthritis

Each foot has 33 joints that move, to some degree, each and every step.  It is commonly known that athletes who play contact sports can suffer from arthritis in their joints later in life.  Well, your feet play a virtual contact sport each and every step of the day.  They pound the pavement when walking and running.  They get hit by rocks and sloping ground.  They kick sides of tables and beds.

Using this analogy, it is easy to appreciate that feet, like knees and hips, succumb to joint damage/arthritis.  It is important to know what form of arthritis is affecting your foot.  Your podiatrist can determine this and advise on how to minimise discomfort in the affected joints.  Unfortunately, it is not a matter of curing the arthritis; it is about making each step of the day comfortable.
