Manual Therapies

At Footsmart, our podiatrists have undertaken further study in manual therapy to increase our skills and knowledge base to provide comprehensive treatment of your condition. These techniques are practiced by Physiotherapists, Osteopaths and other qualified Allied health professionals with excellent results.

Joint mobilisation is a hands on technique used to increase the range of motion of the joints of an injured limb. These techniques are gentle and painless and in most case there is an instant change in pain levels and improved joint range of motion.

Dry Needling is used in the treatment of musculoskeletal pain. It involves inserting an acupuncture needle into a trigger point (an area of contracted knots) to release tension in the muscle. This improves joint motion and muscle length and strength and is often used to treat referred pain.

Mobilisation and Dry Needling are techniques to help ease pain and correct muscle imbalance. At Footsmart Podiatry it is used to compliment other forms of podiatry treatment and each patient’s suitability for these modalities is determined on a case by case basis.
